Hey guys, I just finished God of Wrath by Rina Kent, and I think it’s her favorite book so far! I am currently reading God of Ruin, and I think that one has a good chance at being a 5-star as well! Rina Kent’s storyline is really addicting, and if you haven’t checked her out, you definitely should!
Plot 5/5
As far as a dark romance goes, I felt the plot was very good. I feel that when a dark romance book is in a series like Rena Kent does the characters really do get a lot of time to develop, which makes the overall experience that much better. I sometimes find issues with standalone because it feels like there was no character development, and it goes right into the Spiciness. I was also a little hesitant about the overall storyline because the entire premise of this book revolves around spice. However, I didn’t find that to be problematic at all for me. The spiciness is definitely high with this one.
Structure 5/5
For the structure, as I mentioned before, I felt everything was paced very well because these are characters in an ongoing series. We already knew a lot about Cecily and Jeremy. This book is so heavily based on their spicey life, but I didn’t feel like it was overkill. I also didn’t feel that it was rushed or anything like that since I had an understanding of the characters and how they act. I wasn’t too surprised with how quickly or slowly things happened with them.
Characters 5/5
This section will probably be pretty obvious and start to make me sound like a broken record, but for the characters, I gave it a five out of five. Again, I felt like I knew these characters so well, and I’d known them for so long, so I was really happy to get more in-depth information about them. I think there was so much character development for both of them and I loved being able to see that happen. I also think these characters as a couple makes sense to me which sometimes I feel in dark romance books it’s a bit forced. That was definitely not the case with this one; after learning more about their stories and who they are as people, I definitely could see why they fell for each other.
Feeling 5/5
The feels in this book was an easy five out of five. The main female character has gone through a lot and struggles to overcome her demons. Jeremy also has his fair share of issues, but the focus was more on Cecily. If you are triggered by sexual assault, I would proceed with caution.
Spice 4/5
The spice is INTENSE with this one! The whole book is basically about them being enemies with benefits, so spice is a main factor in this book. It also includes a lot of CNC and knife play so if that bothers you, I would maybe pass on this one.
Overall 5/5
Overall, I give this book a light five out of five. What I mean by light five out of five it is definitely not a book I will think about every day like some of my other five-star reads. However, I found myself really enjoying the spice of this book, so I would definitely reread it eventually. If you are into really spicy books, this is definitely a good one to go for. If you are interested in reading this book, I would recommend you read the other Legacy of God‘s books first, including God of Malice and God of Pain. All of Rina Kent’s books are interconnected, so would make more sense if you read all of them first, but it is a lot. So, if you want to get into this book, I would say at least read those two, and you should be good to go!
